The adventure begins! But much too early in the morning. Left the house at about 6:00AM and picked up Nathan before heading out to the ferry. We met Nancy (group leader) and the rest of the island crew and then hopped on the 7:00am ferry. Played a round of “sushi go” ate breakfast and woke the rest of the way up before getting off the ferry and into the mini vans. Doris and Mandy were waiting for us and they helped us pack our stuff into the vehicles. We picked up 2 more people at the ferry terminal and then continued on our way. A couple hours later we picked up 2 more people. Our next stop was in chilliwack where we met up with the young adult van and introduced ourselves. From there we drove all the way the castlegar with stops for lunch, pictures and beach time. Along the way we saw some deer, lots of cows sheep and horses, a few hawlks, some alpackas and some emu/ostriches.

I spent most of my van time sleeping or listening to music so it was a pretty relaxed way to start the road trip. We arrived at our host church in castlegar to a very warm welcome and had lasagna and salad for dinner with watermelon and cookies for dessert. After dinner we had a bit of free time and then we did some get to know you questions and code of conduct type activities. After that we went for a walk down to the columbia river to stretch our legs.

When we got back we set up our beds and got started on the rendezvous banner. After that we got changed into pjs and ready for sleeping. Lots of sleeping and relaxing today but still lots of laughter and conversation.
